- Focus on migrants as human beings

- Unless Native American, we are all immigrants or descended from immigrants
- Migration has always been a part of human history
- Migration is happening around the world and, today, there are more displaced persons in the world than at any time since World War II
- The majority of immigrants in the US today are young families with children
- Seeking asylum is legal by both national and international law
